 The Buddha’s Light Symphony Orchestra is a unique musical group that combines the beauty of Buddhist music with classical Western music. It was formed in 1993 with the ideal of spreading the joy of the dharma sound. As word is getting around about this special group, more people are becoming interested in the orchestra’s distinctive sound.
Besides performing at regular concerts, BLYSO members have also played at events such as “An Interfaith Concert Celebrating Diversity and Unity Through Music” at the Wilshire Christian Church, the Pacific Asia Museum, and the Chinese Cultural Center, Prayer for the World Peace Ceremony at Hsi Lai Temple. BLYSO small group members also participated community service with different BLIA sub chapters to perform at local Convalescent center and Nursing home.
佛光青少年交響樂團據星雲大師「以梵音廣度十方眾，以 音樂廣結十方緣」的理念而成立，希望藉著音樂突破語言的障礙、國度的界限、種族的隔閡，達到以東方佛教音樂與西方世界交流的意義。自1993年成立至今，一直是佛教界唯一的交響樂團。
樂團除了每年春、秋兩季定期的公演外，也積極參加社區的各種演出活動。多年來參加過梵唄音樂會「梵音樂舞藝術饗宴」及「祈求世界和平法會」的表演。近年來樂團更是活躍於南加州的僑界及主流社區，為各城市的華人協會年會演奏，為亞太博物館書畫義賣籌款會表演。更積極 參於各佛光分會社區老人及療養院表演活動。
